Wings of Hope Ranch currently has seven horses in the program. We seek to find neglected horses that need new homes and rehabilitation. Once they have moved to the Wings of Hope Rescue Barn, we give them proper nutrition, training, and love in the hope that they will become child safe horses. We try to keep 25% of our herd in the category of newly rescued or rehabilitating at one time. Once a horse makes it into our population as a child safe horse, that makes room for a new rescue horse. We get about 3 calls a week from people that would like us to look at and or take their horse. Often times we cannot comply as we don’t have the room or budget to take on all the good horses needing rescue. We work closely with the United States Equine Rescue League (www.userl.org) in fostering, rehabbing and adopting their rescue horses. All of our horses have biblical names. We either keep the name they have (if it is biblical) or give them a new name when we get to know their stories and or personality.

We can’t decide which is more rewarding and fun...working with the horses or the kids! We enjoy each and every one of the children who have visited the ranch, each one, suffering in his/her own different struggles. Many of the children who visit us have more than one challenge in their lives. Our focus is simply to love each one of them and provide a small escape from their regular world. The horses do a great job at providing the example of unconditional love we are seeking to impress on each child. We have learned that the more desperate the rescue horse, the more of an impression and bond between child and horse.
