Zech 9:16
“The LORD their God will save his people on that day as a shepherd saves
his flock. They will sparkle in his land like jewels
in a crown.”
Dear Friends of Wings of Hope Ranch,
My name is Jewel and I just arrived at Wings of Hope Ranch in Montpelier this month, November 2011, with the name Ariel. WHEW am I glad to be here! I have been in foster care for the last year because my owners mistreated me and left me and my 32 buddies for dead with no food or water and no medical care for a LONG time. One of my best friends didn’t make it, which made me really, really sad and they tell me that I was the worst of the bunch to survive, so I am thankful to have a second chance at life at my tender and untrained age of four.
Even though my foster family nursed me back to health, a house just isn’t a home unless there is shared love. And I can already feel the love at the Ranch even after just a week of being here. Probably the most exciting thing to me is that I will FINALLY have a meaningful job, which I have never had before. I am in training for a while with my new friend Blossom. I really like my new name, too. JEWEL … sounds really beautiful! I haven’t really ever felt beautiful before.

Since I am young, I will be in training for a while with my new friend
Blossom. She has come a LONG way since she got here and now she actually
gets to work with the children on the ground.
I am jealous, but it gives me more motivation
to work hard with the trainers that the Ranch hopes to hire. I love my
owners because they really care for us, and even more they care for the
special children and youth leaders who come to the Ranch. Even though
they work for free, which seems unfair, they always work with a smile on
their faces and love in their hearts.
