Mercy came to Wings of Hope Rescue Barn in the Spring of 2009 as a foster from USERL. She was confiscated from a farm in Virginia for extreme neglect by animal control and was then turned over to USERL. Mercy was also, like Cinnamon and Morning, emaciated from lack of nutrition, and about 2 weeks prior to coming to the Ranch, Mercy lost an eye – how we do not know. But we made the choice under God’s divine guidance to give her a good home in hopes that she would become a blessing to children in the program.
Mercy is a beautiful dun mare with a dorsal stripe and zebra stripes on the back of her front legs. She has become embedded deeply within our hearts, and after much training and work Mercy is reaching a place in her life to be used in the program. Mercy did not come to Wings of Hope with her name. We chose to name her Mercy because we saw her need for the loving mercy of a new owner, just as we are all in need of God’s mercy. Graciously through his Son Jesus Christ we are all given the opportunity to enjoy eternity with Him and we hope that Mercy will find a beautiful future with Wings of Hope. Luke 6:36 says, “Be Merciful just as your Father is Merciful”.
