Ruby

Ruby is a Gypsy Vanner and was born in Wales in 2008. Fun fact, she has her own passport!

Catie, our Equine Director, first learned about Ruby when the founder of a similar ministry in Tennessee reached out to Wings of Hope this summer as she was starting to move her ministry in a new direction. As an equine counselor in the ministry Mane Support, Ruby impacted many lives and hearts through her faithful service and healing presence alongside Founder/CEO Kim Henry.

Prior to her years of ministry work in Tennessee Ruby was one of over a hundred horses on a breeding and corporate retreat farm. Wings of Hope would likely be her fourth home. We are excited to watch the Lord continue using Ruby as she minsters to the children of Wings of Hope.
The story of Ruby coming to Virginia includes a series of wonderful God orchestrated and divinely timed events. Prior to adoption our equine team meets with a potential horse several times to ensure they will be a good fit for the ministry. Ruby's home in Tennessee wasn't the easiest location for our team to consider vetting her, but the timing of Catie's conversations happened to align with Trisha, our Executive Director's road trip back from a family vacation, putting her only 20 minutes from Ruby!
And wouldn't you know it that one of Trisha's absolute horsey dreams was to see a Gypsy Vanner in person! The extra 20 minutes to her trip back home was more of a bucket list stop. Together with a video call and Trisha's willing kids, Catie was able to see Ruby go through the standard vetting exercises and our team began the process of adoption.
Catie coordinated her journey here, and then her pre-purchase exam with our vet team once Ruby arrived at Wings of Hope.
Ruby is now a part of the "small herd" sharing her pasture time with Lacey, Wonder, Sparky, Wendy and Belle. She participated in her first session the last week of October and helped the ranchers paint. Ruby's verse is Proverbs 3:15 “She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her."
