Volunteer with the Ranch

Sharing Time and Talent

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the ministry, serving daily in many capacities. We are grateful for everyone who chooses to volunteer with us!

The four main volunteer opportunities are:

  • Barn Volunteer - take care of the horses

  • Session Volunteer - most needed! - work with a Rancher and horse

  • Facilities Volunteer - assist with Ranch maintenance and land care

  • Special Project Volunteer - use God-given talents to fulfill a variety of roles from event planning to photography

While experience working with horses or children is wonderful, we offer an extensive training program to give volunteers confidence in their role and provide a quality experience for Ranchers.

To learn more about Wings of Hope and see if volunteering would be a good fit, we invite you to come out for a tour.

Barn Volunteers

Barn volunteers serve year round caring for our herd of horses.

Volunteers serve once a week during their assigned shift (about 2 hours). We offer two shifts per day, one in the morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and one in the evening (time varies seasonally.) Activities include feeding the horses, turning them in/out to pasture, cleaning the barn, and mucking stalls.

Barn Volunteers are age 16+ and commit to serving 3 months or more. Horse experience is preferred but NOT required! Volunteers age 14+ with extensive horse experience may also apply.

Online and hands on training will be provided to create a successful volunteer experience.  Volunteers age 18+ are required to have a background check prior to training.

If you have a question, please contact our Barn Manager.

Session volunteer roles include:

Wrangler- serve as a mentor to a child and guide to the horse

Ranch Hand- assist with a Wrangler/ Rancher/ horse team

Gatekeeper- seasoned volunteer oversees all of the session activities

Session Volunteers are age 13+ (Wrangler and Ranch Hand) and commit to serve once a week for 8-10 weeks during a Spring, Summer or Fall season.
