Wendy

Miniature Horse

Wendy is all-black with a reddish tint to her mane. Don’t let her small stature fool you- she has a big personality, just like her best pal, Belle. Wendy and Belle came to Wings of Hope to be “seeing eye horses” for our pony Nicodemus “Cody” (he passed away in 2023). When it didn’t work for Angel to be Cody’s buddy, it was suggested to get Cody’s two mini horse friends from White Bird Appaloosa Rescue, where they had been paddock buddies before Cody came to us. When asked, White Bird agreed. Diane, Paige, and Alison picked up the minis and reunited them with Cody, who was overjoyed to have his mini friends back! The three of them loved sharing the paddock together, and Belle and Wendy are just about inseparable. Wendy participates in sessions for groundwork. Ranchers and along with their volunteers practice leading, grooming, and horsemanship. Wendy and Belle been a fun addition to the ranch and are well-loved by everyone.

Wendy’s name means “redeemed.” Her Bible verse is Exodus 15:13 – “With your unfailing love you lead the people you have redeemed. In your might, you guide them to your sacred home.” The vet at White Bird Appaloosa estimated her age as 25 in 2017 so our best guess is 1992 was her birth year.
